Join my FREE 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge today!

Happy Halloween Friends!

If you follow me on the socials you know that the hubs and I decided to do a clean eating challenge again. I ran this program in the summer and had exceptional results and after Thanksgiving and our recent Family trip I decide there is no better time than the present to clean up our eating habits. We actually started last weekend and we both already feel so much better, he actually lost weight already too.

I decided to share the excitement for healthy eating with all of you and wanted to see if any of you wanted to do this with me. We can help motivate each other and I am here to support you in my private Facebook Group with other like minded awesome humans. Click the link to join in on the fun. https://www.facebook.com/groups/nourishyourlifewithpam/?source_id=252629848519574

Today is Halloween and there is no better time to commit to a clean eating challenge. Do you want to feel better in your body? improve your digestion? complexion? reduced bloating, maybe lose a little bit of weight and head into 2020 feeling better than you do right now????

High amounts of sugar can wreak havoc on our immune systems, hormones, and digestion. Some of the negative effects are premature aging, weight gain, fatigue, bone loss, mental fatigue, depression and it is a major contributing factor to diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. So what if we skipped the candy binge tonight and instead got really excited about how awesome we can feel? Are you as excited as I am???

Veggie Thai Red Curry

Food Guilt a real thing, I see it all the time with my nutrition coaching clients. They come to be because they are frustrated and need a little help, they typically believe that healthy food is bland or boring because we have been conditioned to think that. They use to eat the bland food and felt unsatisfied and would crave something better. Then when they ate the thing, you know the thing that you’re “not suppose to eat” you end up feeling like crap, can feel shame or guilt because you know if you keep doing this you will never reach your goals which can lead to a downward spiral.

One of my BIGGEST missions is to show people that healthy eating CAN and SHOULD be flavourful, fun and really tasty (and help women heal their relationships with food and their bodies too). One of the easiest ways to make a food taste great is to add in spices and aromas. This ignites your senses and helps to kick start digestion even before you take your first bite.

This is one of the reasons I love Indian and Thai food. There is no shortage of spices, and this is amazing because spices add a lot of smell and flavour with no calories, no to low sodium and have amazing health benefits. When cooking I try and think of different ways to add in not only spices, but colours and fun flavours.

Keep reading to find out ways to add more flavour to your meals with out adding a lot of calories, sodium or sugar and grab this easy and delish recipe.

Teriyaki Chickpea Bowls

I get it, it’s so hard to be inspired in the kitchen and sometimes we can easily fall into food ruts. With summer over and the kids back at school I am feeling so creative in the kitchen and I am really excited to get you fired up to switch things up and get cooking.

I love sharing recipes that are simple to make the criteria is that they should have 10 ingredients or less, ingredients that people have on hand in their kitchen, have two or less pots/pans and can be made in under 30 minutes. This recipe comes together so easily, and it’s really versatile, I actually created it two ways one with chickpeas and one with chicken so you can make the version that best suits your nutritional goals and needs. Feel free to get creative and add in your favourite veggies, the more the merrier!

Mexican Pulled Chicken Tacos

I hope everyone had a great first week back at school. I know our home was a little sad that summer vacay was over but we are all loving the routine that back to school brings. I am not going to lie over the summer meal prepping and cooking wasn’t always on point. This week a huge focus for me was to get back into prepping lots of healthy meals - specifically family dinners, lunches and lots of snacks.

I got the kids to help with snack prep, they whipped up cookies and energy balls from the cookbook and made some with sunbutter so they would pack them in their lunches for school. I planned and prep a weeks worth of delicious dinners.

I was recently on a cooking video sharing easy dinners to whip up for moms, and this is one of my new recipes that I shared with the viewers. So obviously my next move was to share it here with all of you. The reason I love this dish is because it is so versatile, it can be made for dinner or as a freezer meal and it’s a hit with the whole fam. Honestly these types of meals are my fav because they are easy to make, flavourful, healthy and just really really good!

Buffalo Turkey (or Chickpea Tacos)

I love tacos! I mean who doesn’t?

Our fam could easily have this as a dinner one night per week but to avoid food ruts and boredom I am always on the look out to change up this basic recipe. Last week I posted a new Peanut Taco Recipe in a Lettuce Wrap and this just sparked more inspiration for more taco creations. This week I want to share my new Buffalo Turkey Tacos which again I am serving on a lettuce wrap for myself. As most of you know I am running a 30 day clean eating challenge and we aim to avoid gluten and dairy among other things, and lettuce wraps are a really simple and healthy alternative to wraps. This is one of my favourite recipe for a night where I am craving something a little less “healthy” and a little more fun or daring.

Chicken Detox Stew

Spring is in the air and that vibe always brings about a good Spring cleaning in our home. Along with cleaning out the house I do love a good real food reset to help facilitate a detox within our bodies.

People often think a detox means picking up a detox pill package or a special tea. A healthy detox is all about resetting, resting and nourishing the body from the inside out. At the same time eliminating any toxins or foods that can hinder the body’s natural detoxification process.

It’s about adding in foods that nourish our body and our cells. In this recipe, broccoli works to help detoxify the body it has a high amount of fiber, which allows you to feel full and it also works to keep your blood sugar low and balance between meals. This super veg also contains antioxidants and phytonutrients, which improves the detox process in your body and helps to eliminate other toxins.

I am working on putting together a 7-21 day real food reset detox program that will be coming out at the end of the month so if you feel like you could use a reset keep an eye out for it.

This is one of the recipes that will be in the program, it’s quick and easy to make and feels like comfort food warming you from the inside out. A perfect dish to add into your Sunday meal prep, we like to individually portion in containers for a delish grab and go lunch.

Chocolate Fudge Protein Energy Bars

This week I was really craving some creative time in the kitchen. Life has been busy, my prep game had been slacking, and it was starting to show in our household. When we don’t prep we end up making poor food choices and grabbing more take-out or convenience food.

So Thursday night while my hubby was working late, the kids and I had some fun together in the kitchen. The kids helped to make dinner and a few batches of energy balls while I got inspired to make this protein energy bar recipe. You will notice a lot of the balls and bars are similar and this is on purpose. Keeping it simple and slightly adding in your own favourite variation. The chocolate fudge frosting makes this a total crowd pleaser. From the feedback on Instagram you all agree and asked for the recipe so here it is.

I hope you enjoy these bars as much as our family did.
