Top 10 Tips for Healthy Eating During Summer Holidays

 

Who else is loving the perfect summer weather we have been enjoying so far? Ummm everyone right?

For us the longer days and warmer weather means more adventures outdoors, beach days and cottage time. I wanted to share that with all of the excitement of summer our family still commits to healthy eating even on vacation, weekends at the cottage and long weekends. I wanted to share how we do this and inspire you to do the same. I am so passionate about helping everyone make healthy eating a lifestyle and keeping it delicious, fun, attainable and works for them.

This is one of the reasons I created my new Community 30-Day Clean Eating Program is to show others ways to create a healthy lifestyle and make it accessible even during the summer months, through BBQ’s, parties and just life in general. Do you eat the same way on Monday vs Friday? That has been one of the biggest factors for my healthy eating journey, I aim to treat weekends and holidays like any other day. Healthy Double Chocolate Muffins

As a mom one of the biggest struggles during the school year is keeping lunch packing fun and fresh. I use to struggle hard with wondering what the heck to pack in my kids lunches. My goal this year was to avoid packaged snacks and lunch options to not only know what is in their food but to also help with environmental waste. In turn this has allowed me to save money on our groceries as well. A lot of the processed snacks can add up!

We buy bananas every week and if we ever have any really ripe ones left that always equals fresh muffins. We try to avoid food waste by using up what we can. So a few weeks ago I had some really ripe bananas and created this awesome recipe for school lunches and an after school snack. They were such a hit with the neighbourhood kids that they disappeared right away. In that moment I knew I had to share this recipe with all of you. I know it’s May and we are nearing the end of the school year and this is usually when our lunch creativity is at it’s lowest, so hopefully this recipe helps you out moms.

If you are not a mom and pack lunches for kids I am happy to say these are kick ass snacks for adults too!

Hemp Seed Granola Bars

As a mom of 3 packing lunches can sometimes feel like a daunting task. The balance between packing something healthy, convenient, while ensuring the kids will actually eat it can seem impossible. That was one of the reasons I wanted to create this school-safe bar recipe.

My daughter told me the other day that she got teased at school because she didn’t have any treats or fun stuff in her lunch. So I took this challenge on to make a fun, healthy treat for their lunches. If you follow my stories on Instagram @Prepwithpam you will see it took me a few tries to perfect this recipe. I am really proud with how it turned out and even more stoked that my kids LOVE these bars. A huge bonus is that my husband and I enjoy them for breakfast bars so even if you don’t have kids I know you will appreciate this recipe.
